Project quality at Core: Sampo Virta's journey of supervising Solnet Group's projects

Solnet Group has been implementing projects in the UK for several customers for over a year now, including a global automotive manufacturer and a European grocery chain. One of the latest projects started in April, and a few more will start during the Spring and Summer.

Project quality in solar energy installations is critical to ensuring long-term performance, safety, and return on investment. High-quality execution - from design and engineering to component selection and installation - minimizes the risk of system failures, performance degradation, and costly downtime. In a fast-growing and competitive industry, delivering consistently high project quality builds trust with stakeholders, supports compliance with local regulations, and ultimately secures the financial and environmental impact that solar projects are designed to achieve.

Sampo Virta, Project Supervisor, has been working in the UK since mid-February when he moved there to supervise Solnet Group’s projects. Sampo is representing Solnet Group in all the UK projects that are currently in operation, such as in Gaydon, Belvedere, and Wolverhampton. His tasks include going around work sites, controlling quality, consulting on quality matters, and observing work site operations.

High quality is at the core of Solnet Group’s projects, and Sampo Virta’s task is to supervise work sites so that all the quality requirements are followed as they should.

“The purpose of my job is to guarantee that everything goes according to the plan. At the moment, my job involves a lot of driving around visiting the sites. Therefore, I live in Birmingham, which is quite in the middle of everything. And when talking about driving, it took me some time to get used to driving on the left”, Sampo tells us about his work and smiles in the end.

Sampo’s UK experience reflects Solnet’s growing footprint

The current plan is that Sampo will stay in the UK until mid-August, but this will be reviewed closer to the time concerning the projects.

“I have really enjoyed my time here now that I have settled in. There are places for my hobbies nearby. I have also met new people through my hobbies and got to know some people through work,” he adds.

“What has really struck me is the friendliness of the people here. Everyone is very polite. I could easily stay here longer if needed. Everything in the projects has also gone smoothly, even if the UK is not part of the EU anymore,” Sampo says.

The demand for solar energy solutions in the UK continues to grow, and Solnet Group has already delivered several successful regional projects. With more large-scale installations in the pipeline, a local presence will allow Solnet Group to better serve its customers, respond faster to market needs, and support its expanding operations. Establishing a UK subsidiary marks an exciting step forward in strengthening Solnet Group’s position in the international renewable energy landscape.
